Wedding Preparations – The Beginning of the Day

This is where the day begins — slowly, quietly, and full of meaning.

What is photographed during the preparation?

The preparation hours are where the day begins to take shape. They are often quieter, more intimate, and filled with small moments that set the tone for everything that follows.

I usually start by photographing the details — thoughtfully and without rush. Shoes, rings, the dress, cufflinks, flowers, a handwritten note, or a morning gift. These are not just objects, but carefully chosen elements that hold meaning, especially for couples planning a wedding from afar. I document them as they are, in natural light, with attention to texture, atmosphere, and context.

As the preparation unfolds, I move gently between details and people. From hair and makeup to the moment your dress is fastened or your tie is adjusted, I document the process as it naturally happens. Often, these moments involve the people closest to you — a parent, a sibling, or a close friend — and they carry a quiet emotional weight that becomes even more meaningful in retrospect.

My approach during preparations is fully documentary. I don’t interrupt, direct, or stage moments. I observe and respond to what is happening, allowing the space to remain calm and unforced. This is especially important for destination weddings, where the setting may be unfamiliar and the morning deserves to feel grounded and unhurried.

The images from this part of the day are about presence rather than perfection. Real moments, real interactions, and the beginning of your wedding story — exactly as it felt to be there.
